This is an interesting OS based off Windows 2000 and planned to be the new consumer version of Windows 9x, however Windows ME was still released later in 2000.
Neptune had a new user control panel to make it easier to switch between user accounts which was fully implemented in Windows XP. The early stages of a firewall were being created, and again we saw this tied into Windows XP as Windows Firewall.
There was one build to ever be leaked out to the public and that was 5111 with a date of December 27, 1999 (Windows 2000 wasn't retail until February 17, 2000). The ultimate fate came in January when Microsoft merged the Neptune and Odyssey team (future Pro/Server Windows codename) into one named Whistler to begin development of Windows XP.
